With all of the pent up, not-yet-nominated energy going on around here I want to share a little fun in the hopes it might lift y'alls spirit.

I received a response from Dianne Feinstein and want to share it with you, I think some of her choice of language is telling and shows what is ahead for those of us who want to see this illegal wire tapping brought in to the light.

This is a quick diary to bring additional attention to what you can do about the fuel oil spill in San Francisco Bay.

Dirty bunker fuel literally comes from the bottom of the barrel and is more than 1,000 times dirtier than the diesel fuel used in trucks and buses.  This fuel pollutes the air, threatens human health, and causes global warming.  Now, an accident has led to the release of 58,000 gallons of this toxic fuel into the San Francisco Bay -- demonstrating the risks that its use poses for marine life.  Friends of the Earth's Clean Vessels campaign is calling on Congress to require a complete phase-out of bunker fuel use.

This topic has been well discussed for years but given the recent spat of hate-mongering that has arisen from the far right, it bears regurgitating if only to assuage my depression about why anyone would attack a 12 year old and his family or lie with seeming impunity about the sacrifice of a soldier with no thought to the effect it would have on their lives.

I am constantly in appreciation and awe of the willingness of those who would publicly stand up to dispute the decisions of our war making government only to be slammed with hate filled speech by those who often cannot see that they live in a Faux news bubble.

We are not being heard because we don't have the $$ silly.

It takes money to get elected, it takes money to even get a meeting with an elected official.

But it does not take money to vote and my congress critters feel safe in cozy blue-ish California. And I'm ready to make them work for us, and not the other way around.

I belong to a site called Big Muscle Bears, who have asked me to sign a petition from the Gay and Lesbian Task force to STOP the Federal government from thinly veiled homophobic attacks.  

The Federal Record Keeping and Labeling Act (2257) has huge impacts on social networking sites, it could shut down the entire industry through burdensome regulation. Why should you care?

Because "the regulations would allow the Attorney General to conduct warrantless searches at will on the sites’ records, including your personal information."

As I am reading a story in the SF Chronicle about the Haas family, I am struck not just by the generosity of this family, but also by who they support through their foundation and how they go about it.

Last night I was just home when I received a text saying, and I quote "John Edwards wants 2 talk 2 you! Hit reply. Type "CALL" & hit Send. John will call YOU right back!"

Ed Jew has come under investigation for violating San Francisco's requirement that the office holder live in the district the they represent. Although this is not a huge crisis, the reason he even got noticed in the first place is due to allegations made by business owners in his district that he solicited cash bribes to 'facilitate' permitting.  He is currently under investigation by the FBI and has charges filed by the City Attorney's office.
