new Harris Poll 81% negative; economy is top worry
Thu Jan 24, 2008 at 05:34:44 AM PDT
The new Harris Poll is coming out (no link yet) in advance of the State of the Union address, and it shows Americans are pissed off. These numbers are getting worse (or better, for Democrats, if our candidates could figure out how to dissociate themselves from Bush).
Overall, the Harris Poll found that 81% of Americans rate the current state of the country as "fair or poor."
We have to have a candidate who is not perceived as part of the problem. Hillary Clinton, imho, is not that candidate.

A Harris Poll came out a few days ago. No surprise, 3 out of 10 people admit they don't know much about US politics....What about the people who think they know whats going on in politics?
It's scary to think that some people believe they are well informed when all they do is catch the 6 o'clock news and 45 minutes of Good Morning America 5 days a week. I saw some amusing grafiti on an overpass. It read: "Good Morning Lemmings!" I wonder how many lemmings people accept the pap doled out every day by the MSM.
Fluff and snippets is what tv news is all about.
It's about getting viewers.
Getting viewers is all about stimulating emotional responses.
Fear's the best emotion to stimulate.
Bush hits new low (approval rating at 28%)
Sat Apr 28, 2007 at 06:06:13 AM PDT
It was just a matter of time before Bush would out do himself again!!! The core of his neo-conservative base slowly erodes as Bush may be destined to break the lowest approval rating of any sitting U.S. President in history. The lowest recorded approval rating belongs to Harry Truman with his lowest sinking to 23%.

New WSJ/Harris poll: Bush at 28%!!
Thu Apr 26, 2007 at 09:47:00 AM PDT
I'm surprised no one else has posted this yet.
I'm not a WSJ subscriber, but here's the report:
Of the 1,001 American adults polled online April 20-23, only 28% had a positive view of Mr. Bush's job performance, down from 32% in February and from a high of 88% in the aftermath of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The current rating is his weakest showing since his inauguration.

I just saw this in
'Political Wire'
Bush Approval Sinks Again
"President Bush's job-approval rating fell, with 34% of Americans voting him 'excellent' or 'good,' down from 38% in September," according to a new Harris Interactive poll.
In the generic congressional race, 47% of registered voters say they'll vote for a Democratic candidate, compared with 35% who will choose a Republican.

Poll Reveals Public Perception; Iraq Had Weapons of Mass Destruction ©
Tue Aug 22, 2006 at 02:43:05 PM PDT

Public opinion polls are again called into question. President Bush boasts he does not pay attention to these studies. In 1999, candidate Bush criticized Former President Clinton and presidential aspirant Albert Gore for exalting such silly surveys. As his numbers slip daily, Bush 43 reminds us, he has no time for following such tomfoolery. George W. Bush is a man that thinks for him self. Our resolute ruler trusts; he knows what is best for the country and for the world.
Mr. Bush is not an anomaly. According to a July 21, 2006, Harris Poll® most Americans prefer their personal perceptions to facts. They are not necessarily convinced by news reports, if the perspective differs from their own. Humphrey Taylor, Chairman of the Harris Poll, spoke of this in a recent interview with Journalist Bob Garfield of "On the Media" fame. In this dialogue Mr. Taylor proclaimed, currently fifty percent of Americans are convinced; Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. They believe this despite all evidence to the contrary.
Harris Poll Shows Bush Approval Drop to 29%: White House Seeks to Shore up Support
Fri May 12, 2006 at 05:29:45 PM PDT
CLICK TO ENLARGE In a bad omen, Greedar, the Republican Party mascot bolts and runs from President Bush
Washington, DC (APE) - A recent Harris telephone survey of 1000 Americans has netted President Bush some of the worst approval ratings in the history of presidential polling. Only 29% of Americans polled felt that the president was doing a good job overall. With a potential indictment looming over presidential advisor Karl Rove, and the recent revelation of more extensive domestic spying along with the Department of Justice's abandonment of its investigation into it, the White House is struggling to rally Republicans from sure defeat in the 2006 midterm elections.
It's Here: Bush at 29% approval says Harris Poll
Thu May 11, 2006 at 09:10:02 PM PDT
I had actually intended to post a diary yesterday predicting the next Harris poll would be the one to set the milestone. Well now no one will believe me but hey, I'm glad to see it anyway.
Check it out. No disapproval rating announced yet, but Harris usually has low undecideds, so it will likely be in the high 60s.
American Research Group may have him lower than that even in a couple of weeks, when they do their monthly poll. I'll just call that as even with Harris, 29%.
Democratic Party Affliation Lead Doubles Since 2004
Sat Jan 21, 2006 at 03:51:31 PM PDT
Many here have speculated about the polling data that seems to indicate a stable Republican base of support for Bush at around 30%. Some here have also reasonably suggested that the number of self-identified Republicans may have been significantly eroding as Bush's failures continued to pile up.

Haven't seen this diaried: Today's
Wall Street Journal publishes its Harris Poll result. Too many times diarists have written "Bush's approval tanks" etc based on a drop of one percentage point in Zogby or ABC or Rasmussen, etc. But here we have the
heart heartless and
soul wallet of the GOP literally pulling the props out from under the worst president ever and former Leader of the Free World.
June: 45% approval
August: 40%
