OMG, Why Clinton Lost, w/poll--updated for semantic accuracy...
Mon Jun 09, 2008 at 06:22:04 AM PDT
Am I crazy? I ask not because my own notion wasn't reflected in yesterday's "Why Clinton Lost" stories, but because I could've sworn that lots of, if not most kossacks, shared my ideas of why Clinton lost. For God's sake, it was the Iraq War vote, wasn't it?
Am I deluded? Having marched alongside hundreds of thousands of of other people who knew that if we went into Iraq, we'd be screwed for years, I thought for sure that Senator Clinton's single most consequential liability in this primary season was the fact that she alienated that large segment with her 2002 vote for the AUMF.
I mean, I did grow to like Barack Obama, a great deal. In fact, I'm very excited that he's our nominee, and I'll be ecstatic when he wins in November. But am I wrong in thinking that if Hillary Clinton had voted against the AUMF, or even better, had she used her high profile to lead a big movement in the Senate against it, Barack Obama wouldn't have even needed to run?
Okay, please vote in my poll and tell me thereby whether I'm insane.
UPDATE: moved by TomP's accurate comment, please consider this diary not to ask "why Clinton lost," but more specifically, "do YOU DKos readers think Clinton's vote was her biggest liability?"
You can't change the text of the poll questions, so please just look at it with the change above in mind!
