Hillaroids and Obamanoids, please vote for McCain, but...

Sun Apr 06, 2008 at 08:53:36 AM PDT

NY Times today has the story of how US drug manufacturers are pushing for a Supreme Court decision that would protect all manufacturers of products certified by the government.

So, we want to be WORSE than the Chinese. Essentially unregulated corporate greed. But apparently one fifth of Hillaroids and Obamanoids say they'll vote for McCain (or sit on the sidelines) if their candidate doesn't get the nomination.

How clever.

The current case is a birth control patch which was approved by the FDA, but once released, was stronger than it was supposed to be, resulting in complications.  The doctrine is called pre-emption: basically, the idea is that once a drug is approved by the FDA, it becomes the government's responsibility, not the manufacturer's, no matter what the maker does with it.

This principle could be employed in a variety of cases, not just drugs, and regardless of carelessness or dishonesty. The Bush administration, as always, is trying to protect corporate interests from the public instead of vice versa, and so is taking the side of the company.

And of course, Bush has already crippled the FDA, so little meaningful oversight can be done.

Any Hillaroid or Obamanoid Democrat who threatens to vote for John McCain should realize how much damage the Republicans have already done to our regulatory processes, and how much more they will do if given the chance, with more Supreme Court justices. McCain is already a doddering idiot warmonger, and he'll be a total puppet or dead before his term(s) is/are over, and you can be sure his vice-president is going to be a dyed in the wool right winger. Welcome to it, folks.

As for me, I'm pushing the button that says Democrat. Straight. Cause I got four kids, and they are more important to me than my own hot buttons.

I think kos should take a stand on this issue. This site is not for people who want to elect John McCain; those folks can vote for whomever they choose, but....they should go away from this place.
